William McCoy Britton, 72, of 128 Savannah Circle N. in Roanoke Rapids died January 6, 2010 at home.
McCoy was a native of Ahoskie and a former resident of Lake Gaston. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He loved his family, friends and life. McCoy was retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
McCoy was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Louise Britton, and brother M.T. Britton.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Haislip Britton of the home; four daughters, Debbie Vaughan and her husband, Ray of Virginia Beach, Va., Lori Britton and Rocky of Traveler’s Rest, SC; Kelly Bradley and Steve Stroud of Ahoskie and Kasey Pearce and her husband, Brian of Harrellsville; two step-daughters, Teresa Haislip and her husband, Jeff of Roanoke Rapids and Kimberly Ludlam and her husband, Mike of Conway, SC; seven grandchildren, Steven, Brenden, Hunter, Parker, Edward, Kasey and Brian; one great-granddaughter, Torrie; and four step-grandchildren, Tommy, Zack, Wes and Reid.
