Dorothy P. Boone, 79, of Gates died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Born in Gates County, she was a member of First Baptist Church Roduco where she was a Deaconess, Missionary and Sunday school teacher. She was retired from Gates Public Schools as a Cafeteria Assistant.
Survivors include five daughters, Hilda Boone of Gates, Maxine Ballard of Gates, Patricia Boone of the home, Charlotte Hayer of Petersburg, Va. and Polly Vaughan of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10 at First Baptist Church. Burial will take place in the Boone Family Cemetery.
