Cordelia (“Dee”) Fay Buller departed this world on the wings of an angel and went to her Heavenly home on January 5, 2010 at Parkview Hospice in San Diego, California. She resided in Poway, California for the past twenty-five years. Dee was born on a snowy day in an old, former school house where her father attended school as a boy near Ahoskie, North Carolina on February 1, 1940, the second of two children of Claude Oliver Proctor, Sr. and Helen Lassiter Proctor. She was preceded in death by her father. Dee grew up in rural Hertford County, North Carolina where her parents farmed and owned a country store. She was blessed with a strong Christian upbringing and accepted Jesus as her Lord at First Presbyterian Church in Ahoskie where she was a member for many years. She was a proud member of the Ahoskie High School Class of 1958 and rejoiced in the lifelong love and friendship of her classmates, especially Sondra and Zoble. After graduation from high school she attended East Carolina University and was an avid Pirate fan. Dee completed her accounting degree at Universal Accounting. She managed accounting for WAXIE Sanitary Supply in San Diego for ten years. Dee was a successful independent businesswoman who founded and owned The Bookworks Accounting Service in Poway, California in 1987 and operated it until just a few weeks ago when her health continued to decline. One of Dee’s great joys was relaxing on the Mexican coast at her condo and watching the beautiful sunsets across the Pacific Ocean in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Dee is survived by her mother, Helen Proctor Rawls of Ahoskie; and her three children: Denise Daugherty of Encinitas, California; Kevin Sparks of San Diego, California; and Daren and wife Heidi Sparks of San Diego, California; brother, Dr. Claude Oliver Proctor, Jr. and wife Doris of Georgetown, Texas; and six grandchildren. Dee was a devoted mother who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Dee’s indomitable spirit will live on in her children, grandchildren and their progeny. She was a devout member of Living Way Church in Poway, California. Now there is no more pain and no more sorrow in this world – just sweet, eternal sleep in the loving arms of Jesus. Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Aunt we love you and miss you so much. The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to Dee’s dearest friends Aleene, Nikki, and Lucille for their care and concern, especially during her final weeks of life, and to Parkview Hospice in San Diego. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Poway-Bernardo Mortuary at 13243 Poway Road in Poway, California with Pastor Caesar Ochoa of Living Way Church in Poway officiating. Memorials may be made to pancreatic cancer research, any children’s hunger organization, or a charity of your choice. “. . . but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
