Rev. Walter Reynolds, 83, of Friendship Church
Road, Farmville, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at his home.
Born in Columbia, he was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army and he was retired on from the pastorate.
He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry as an Original Free Will Baptist Minister in the Albemarle Conference and graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn.
Rev. Reynolds pastored churches in Tennessee and in North Carolina and served in several capabilities in the North Carolina State Convention of Original Free Will Baptists.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Gayle Reeves of Raleigh; two sons, Samuel Thomas Reynolds of Wake Forest and Charles Stephen Reynolds of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; one brother, Thomas Reynolds of Greensboro; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27 at Friendship Original Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Jones and the Rev. Jack Weathersby officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville.
The family will receive friends at Farmville Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26.
