JACKSON — The search for a suspect in a Rich Square home invasion has come to an end.

On Sunday night, Keyachia Carolette Joyner turned herself in to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office and is now facing multiple charges associated with a home invasion that occurred a week ago.

Northampton County Sheriff’s Chief Detective Captain D.M. Harmon said Joyner has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

“She was given a $100,000 secured bond and placed in the Northampton County Jail,” said Harmon. “Her first court appearance was today (Monday) and her bond was modified to a $400,000 cash bond.”

Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 7, 2010.

Harmon added the investigation is on going and there may be further charges.

Joyner is a suspect in a home invasion that took place December 6 on Highway 258 near Rich Square, which left her alleged accomplice dead and an occupant of the home injured.

During that home invasion, a friend of the family, Calvin Clark, who was living at the residence, answered the front door of the home to Joyner. As Clark answered, Joyner allegedly moved to the side to make way for Matthew Hamilton Jacobs, who was brandishing a shotgun. After Jacobs demanded money, Clark tried to close the door and Jacobs shot through the door of the residence.

Clark fired back at Jacobs, who suffered gunshot wounds that would eventually lead to his death.

Clark was also injured during the home invasion with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was hospitalized at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

After the two men exchanged gun fire, Joyner and Jacobs fled the residence. Joyner got into a green Oldsmobile Alero while Jacobs fled on foot behind the residence.

On Tuesday (December 8) morning, law enforcement officials located the Alero and later the same day discovered Jacobs’ body in woods behind the home.
