Carroll Credle, Jr.

Carroll S. Credle Jr. of Windsor died Monday, December 7, 2009, after a brief illness at Inpatient Hospice, Greenville, NC.
He was born in Norfolk, VA on April 9, 1934 to the late, Dr. Carroll S. and Josephine Tekinder Credle.
He served in the military as an M.P. stationed in Germany. His education included attending Colerain Elementary and graduation from Ahoskie High School and Elon College. He received his Masters degree from East Carolina College.
His career as an educator began in Randleman, NC followed by a tenure at Ahoskie Graded School. He was a public school administrator at Aulander Elementary, Windsor Elementary and Bertie Senior High School. After several years as Assistant Superintendent of Bertie County Public Schools he returned to the classroom at Aulander Elementary. He retired from Southwestern Elementary School.
He had a happy retirement having visited every state of the union on RV trips. His garden was bountiful and his yard was a work of art. His greatest delight was sharing the joys of Christmas with the children of eastern North Carolina.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years Julia Parker Credle; grateful children, son Carroll S. Credle III of Chapel Hill and daughter Marriotte J.”Jamie” Credle and her husband, Raleigh J. Marcell, of Savannah GA; and a cherished brother Dr. J. Bernard “Bernie” Credle and wife, Shirley Woodley Credle, of Beaufort SC; brother-in-law M. Joseph “Joe” Parker and wife, Lauretta Dyer Parker, of Raleigh; sister-in-law Suzannah Parker Early of Charlotte; nieces Katherine Parker-Lowe, Lyn Hardway, Woodley Credle, Andrea Early; and nephews Wilber Parker, Joe Credle and Herbert Turner.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, December 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ashley Memorial Chapel of Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, Ahoskie. Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery. Father Bill Long will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie.
