MURFREESBORO — Upgrade work on the Holly Hill lift station is completed; now all that is needed is for the power to be connected.
On Tuesday, the Murfreesboro Town Council were briefed about the status of the lift station by Public Works Director Gene Byrd.
Byrd said upgrades to the lift station are complete and the town is now waiting on Dominion Power to connect the electricity.
“As soon as Dominion hooks up the power, we’ll be able to start it up,” he said.
Byrd said he wasn’t sure why it was taking so long for the power company to connect the electricity, but “issues with the weather” may have been the reason.
In October, anticipated expenditures on the project were listed at $179,906 with the amount left on the Community Development Block Grant at $133,487.72. The difference of $46,418.28 is to be paid by the town.
The lift station is being upgraded for the Howard Hunter Villas project which will provide housing for low income families.
