Luther D. Herald Sr., 95, of Windsor died Thursday, November 12, 2009.
A native of Prestonsburg, Ky., he owned Ron Herald’s Texaco Center at Harmon’s Branch. He relocated to Virginia Beach, Va. and then to Snug Harbor in Hertford. Herald was a member of Snug Harbor Community Church and recently lived in Windsor with his son.
Survivors include his wife, Delphia Marie Herald; three sons, Luther D. Herald Jr. of Buffalo, NY, James T. Herald of Hertford and Lacy E. Herald of Windsor; a sister, Doris Ann Patrick; a brother, Jack Branham; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Snug Harbor Community Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Snug Harbor Community Church, Hertford, NC.
