Horace James Parker, 81, of the 200 block of Navajo Trail, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 in a Norfolk hospital.
A native of Hertford County, NC, he was a retired machinist from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and a member of West Park Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Davenport Parker; two daughters, Kathy Woerheide and husband, Kenneth, of Chesapeake and Sherry Palmer of Portsmouth; a sister, Lucille Wiggins and a brother, Ernest Parker, both of Ahoskie, NC; three grandchildren, Kelly Thomas and husband, Christian, Thomas J. Palmer and wife, Danielle, and Sierra Palmer; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Wilson, Gabriel Palmer and Paige Snyder.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, in West Park Church of Christ by Mr. Keith Lewis. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Ahoskie Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
