Ernest Melvin Benthall Jr., 60, of NC Hwy 35, Woodland died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Halifax Regional Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.
A native of Northampton County, he was a mechanic for Bryant Farms and a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Woodland.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Ray Walden of Charlotte and William Pernell Walden of Murfreesboro; four daughters, Tomeka Bell of Woodland, Julia Walden of Enfield, Shonda Tillery of Margaretsville and Katrina Green of Woodland; two sisters, Mildred Vinson of Woodland and Catherine Whitehead of Ahoskie; and 17 grandchildren.
A funeral will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Woodland with the Rev. Eddie Vinson officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Rich Square, is handling the arrangements.
