Steven Smith

Mr. Steven Morris Smith, 56, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009.
Steve Smith was the son of the late W.M. “Skinny” and Edith Mitchell Smith.
Born and raised in Ahoskie, he was a graduate of Ahoskie High School, class of 1971. He served in the United States Army in the mid 1970’s and was stationed in West Berlin, Germany. He returned to his home town, Ahoskie, and worked with his father at Ahoskie Body Shop and was a proud volunteer fireman.
In 1988, he moved to Kill Devil Hills and was employed with the Town of Nags Head for 16 years prior to his retirement.
He had been a resident of Greenville since 2006 and was a member of Peoples Baptist Church.
Steve, beloved husband, father and grandfather, was a gentle, selfless man who cared deeply for his family, friends and co-workers.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ann Terry Smith of the home; son, Steve M. Smith II and wife, Patricia, of Greenville; daughter, Summer Smith of Greenville; three granddaughters, Shelby Lynn, Julie Ann and Adia Isabella; and a brother, Eddie Smith and wife, Laurie, of Ahoskie.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20 at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, Greenville.
