Carlton Layden

Carlton Phillip Layden, 83, of Deer Forest Road, died Monday, October 12, 2009 in Sentara Obici Hospital.
A native of Perquimans County, he was retired from Coca-Cola in Suffolk and a member and deacon of Eureka Baptist Church where he was involved in the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class, and served as the director of Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Riddick Layden; a daughter, Sandra L. DeAngelo of Queensbury, NY; two sons, Phil Layden of Corapeake, and Reginald Layden of Williamsburg, VA; six sisters, Adelaide Hendrix and Doris Monds, both of Tyner, Helen Riddick of Portsmouth, VA, Clemma Bunch of Belvidere, Sylvia Miller of Hertford and Marlene Bass of Hobbsville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Eureka Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Willard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
