Thomas Ertle

Dr. Thomas Francis Ertle, 58, of East Street, Belhaven, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at his residence.
A native of Camden, New Jersey, he was a graduate of LaSalle College in Philadelphia, Pa. where he received a degree in biology and a graduate of Temple University where he received a Doctorate in podiatry.
Ertle was the former president of Hearts for Haiti where he led mission work teams to Haiti from 1984 through 2006. He was an honorary member of the Ahoskie Rotary Club, attended Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Allen Ertle of the home; three sons, Thomas Matthew Ertle of Pasadena, MD, Luke Allen Ertle of Greenville and Jeff Deshomme of Belhaven; two brothers, Francis Thomas Ertle Jr. of Raleigh and Stephen Francis Ertle of Washington Township, NJ; two sisters, Ann Marie Ertle Ciara of Reisterstown, MD and Linda Marie Ertle Exley of Voorhees, NJ.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the John A. Wilkinson Center, Belhaven, with Pastor David Pierce officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 at the John A. Wilkinson Center and other times at the home, 487 East St., Belhaven, NC.
