Maude Dilday

Maude Peele Dilday, age 90, of the 800 block of Center Grove Road, died Friday, September 18, 2009, at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.
Mrs. Dilday was born in Bertie County on August 9, 1919, a daughter of the late Claude Bailey and Maude Bazemore Peele. She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union. She worked as a sales clerk with the Ahoskie Department store for 29 years and later as a nurse’s aid at Roanoke Chowan Hospital for 10 years. She was the widow of J. Alton Dilday.
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Alice Dilday Pruden of Jamestown, NC; two sons, Johnny Cohen Dilday and his wife, Gayle of Cary, NC, and Joseph Ashley Dilday and his wife, Brenda of Ahoskie. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joy Dilday White, Hope Seeber and husband, Kurt, Dawn Goff and husband, Mike, Tammy Pruden, John Michael Dilday and wife, Ann, Brian Dilday and wife, Koryn, Mark Dilday, and Teresa Bishop and husband, Trent; and 15 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service was conducted on September 21, 2009 at Center Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Kiker and Rev. Bob Skeens officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Guardian Care of Ahoskie who showed such kindness and care to Mrs. Dilday during her stay there. Maude Dilday was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and loyal friend to many and will be missed by all.
