Al Baker

Al Gehrig Baker, 72, of Lazy Hill Drive, Colerain, died Friday, September 19, 2009 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Bertie County, he was a member Colerain Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a 1959 graduate of Wake Forest University and played on the baseball team. He was the President of Lazy Hill Farms and served on the board of Wachovia Bank in Ahoskie.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Forehand Baker of Colerain; a daughter, Holly B. Nettles of Nags Head, a son, Burney Baker of Colerain; a brother, Vernon Baker of Ahoskie; and four grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in Hillcrest Cemetery by the Rev. Shelby Stevens.
The family will receive friends from their home on Lazy Hill Drive.
