Alvin Earl Roberson, age 64, of Ahoskie died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at his home. He was born November 3, 1944 in Hertford County to the late Henry Roberson and Sallie Sauls Roberson.
A native of Hertford County, he owned and operated Roberson Roofing in Ahoskie, was a member of Creech Memorial Baptist Church, an avid fisherman, and was Past President of the Ahoskie Homebuilding Association.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Wilson Roberson; two sons, Michael Roberson and wife, Susan, of Rocky Mount and Marty Roberson of Ahoskie; a daughter, Debra Michelle Roberson O’Hara and husband, Greg, of Virginia Beach, VA; seven special grandchildren, Logan Roberson 10; Morgan & Mckenzie Roberson 8; The O’Hara boys, Spencer 10, Brexton 9, Ryland 4 and Vaiden 1; father-in-law Buddy Lance of Chesapeake, ex-daughter-in-law Michelle Terry Elayah of Aulander; brother Melvin Roberson and wife, Anna, of Suffolk, VA; and sister Katie Brennon of Clinton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 28 in the Ashley Memorial Chapel at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, Ahoskie. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Robert May will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home.
