Al McDonald Watford, 59, of Church Street in Colerain died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.
A native of Bertie County, he was a graduate of Troy University in New York and honorably discharged from United States Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Colerain and a retired supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Whitaker of Greensboro; a son, Tshaka Watford of Brooklyn, NY; two stepdaughters, Beverly Whitaker of Windsor and Valerie Cooper of Greensboro; a brother, Douglas Watford of Fort Dix, NJ; three sisters, Authretta Bond of Colerain, Juanita Moore of Suffolk, VA. and Janice Watford Chamblee of Middletown, CT; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 28 at First Baptist Church of Colerain with the Rev. Mary Drake officiating. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is handling the arrangements.
