David L. Valentine Jr., 76, of Hampton, VA died on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Lake Taylor Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
He was a native of Bertie County.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Wells Valentine of Linden, NJ; five sons, Douglas Valentine of Manteo, Amin Salaam of Plainfield, NJ, David Valentine of Pennsylvania, Michael Valentine of East Orange, NJ and Mark Valentine of Elizabeth, NJ; three daughters, Janice Eaton of Hampton, VA, Marion Davis and Shirley Valentine, both of Newport News, VA; three brothers, Roosevelt Valentine and Ernest Valentine, both of Portsmouth, VA and Robert Lee Valentine of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Erma Stephens of Irving, NJ and Betty Ruth Smith of Brooklyn, NY; 26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at Newsome Grove Baptist Church. Burial will take place in the Valentine Family Cemetery.
