Mr. Alvin Wingate Futrell, age 87, of Potecasi, NC died Tuesday, August 18, 2009.
Mr. Futrell was born September 6, 1921 in Conway, NC, the son of the late Jordan Futrell and Betty Joyner Futrell. He was preceded in death by his wife Jimmie Knight Futrell and a sister, Louise Warrick.
He was employed for many years with E.B. Lassiter Lumber Company and then worked at Northampton Peanut Company.
He was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Willoughby and her husband, Alton, of Woodland, NC and Pam Cullins and her husband, Keith, of Como, NC; two grandsons, Adam Willoughby and his wife, Christine, of Nicholasville, Kentucky and William Outland Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Seaboard, NC; a brother, Clyde Futrell of Milwaukee, NC; a sister, Margaret Johnson of Murfreesboro, NC; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held, Friday, August 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Potecasi Baptist Church in Potecasi, NC with the Rev. Marcus Pond officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, on Thursday, Aug. 20 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Patricia Willoughby in Woodland, NC.
