William Willoughby

William Thomas Willoughby, age 81, of the 900 block of North Mitchell Street, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Pinewood Manor Adult Care in Ahoskie.
Mr. Willoughby was born in Hertford County on July 11, 1928, a son of the late Bessie Horton and Joe Blount Willoughby. He was a graduate of Ahoskie High School, attended First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, and was a member of the Ahoskie Kiwanis Club. William retired after thirty years of service with the U. S. Department of Army Maps Service.
Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Victoria Younkin and husband, David of Winchendon, MA; a son, Perry Rick Henley of TN; three grandsons, Thomas Younkin, Duane Younkin and Daniel Younkin, all of MA; and a cousin Sara W. Parker and husband, Donnie of Ahoskie. Besides his parents, Mr. Willoughby was predeceased by his wife, Dorothea M. Willoughby.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, in the Ashley Memorial Chapel of Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert May officiating. Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30.
