AHOSKIE – An alleged “shot house” on Troy Street in Ahoskie is no longer in operation.

On August 6, a search warrant was executed by members of the Ahoskie Police Department and ALE (Alcohol Law Enforcement) agents at a Troy Street residence rented by Elvis Beacher, 49.

APD Detective Sgt. Stephen White said Beacher was placed under arrest.

ALE handled the bonding end of the process.

That amount is unknown. Sgt. White said numerous alcoholic beverages were seized from the residence.

A “shot house” is a place where state-taxed alcoholic beverages are sold illegally – either by the bottle or by “shots” (individual servings).
