Julian Phelps

Julian Earl Phelps, 87, of Sterlingworth Street, Windsor, died Monday August 10, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A native of Bertie County, he worked at Bertie Memorial Hospital for 15 years and retired from the US Postal Service after 20 years.
He was a member of Cashie Baptist Church, Windsor, and a charter member of the Windsor Lions Club where he served as Secretary for 30 + years.
He was a US Army Veteran of World War II where he saw action with the 28th Infantry Division and fought at the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Spruill Phelps of Windsor; son, Neal Phelps of Williamston; step-daughters, Nancy Joyner of Windsor, Betty Martin of Four Oaks and Marcia Price of Plymouth; step-son, Henry Freeman Jr. of Plymouth; two grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.
The Rev. Reese Blanchett will hold funeral services at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 12 at Cashie Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11 at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor and at other times from the home.
