Mary Nelson Davis, 97, of Ahoskie died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.
She was born January 23, 1911 in Murfreesboro to the late Ernest Nelson and Lena Seuis Nelson. She was the wife of the late Henry Davis.
She was a homemaker, attended St. Johns Baptist Church and was affectionately known as “The Other Nanny”.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday July 30, 2009 in the Ashley Memorial Chapel at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev Brian Hall and Rev. Robert May will officiate.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Clara Harris of Ahoskie; a granddaughter, Cynthia Lewis and her husband, Doug, of Lewiston; a great granddaughter, Shanna Peace of Lewiston; three great-great grandchildren, Collin Peace, Brittany Peace and Kaitlyn Peace; a nephew, Donald Hunter and his wife, Ann, of Knightdale and their son, Gary Hunter, and his family of Illinois.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, Ahoskie, and other times at the home.
