Joseph Jesse Barnes, 70, of Gates died Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.
He was a retired equipment operator with J.H. Lee & Sons in Courtland, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Angelina Meyerhofer Barnes of Gates; two daughters, Jo Anna Vick and Charlotte Barnes both of Gates; two step-children, Suzanne Winchester Grantham, NH and Steven Ruskuski Chipley, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in the mausoleum chapel at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk. Rev. Wayne Eason will officiate. Burial will follow on the cemetery grounds.
