John Thomas Wilson, Sr., 82, of Windsor died Friday, July 17, 2009 at his residence.
A native of Bertie County, he was a retired from Lea Lumber Company and a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise C. Wilson, six daughters, Turessa Pugh of Hinesville, Ga., Ameta Bond, Patricia Speller, Flora Speller, Rosa Speller and Regina Peele, all of Windsor; four sons, John Wilson, Jr. of Salters, SC, Silas Wilson and Noah Wilson, both of Windsor, and Melvin Wilson of Suffolk, Va.; four sisters, Beaulah Parker, Leomi Holley, Ruth Swain, all of Norfolk, Va., and Mattie Brockers of Windsor; four brothers, Alexander Wilson, James Wilson, Luke Wilson and Daniel Wilson, all of Windsor; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Windsor, with Rev. Dr. James R. Wrighton officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Cherry’s Funeral Home in Windsor.
