Dawson Wilson

Dawson Earl Wilson, 78, of the 300 block of W. High Street, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Wilson was born in Green County, NC, and was retired after 23 years of service in the United States Army. After his retirement from the armed forces, Mr. Dawson went to work with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and worked there for 20 years.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Betty Mayfern Wilson; his daughters, Dail W. Davis and her husband, Lewis of Rocky Mount, and Brenda A. Cote of Chesapeake, VA; his sons, Steve Wilson and wife, Dean of Clayton, NC, and Terry Wilson and wife, Pam of Ahoskie; a brother, Milton Wilson of Dover, DE; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Margaret Kennedy and husband, Arland; and a stepson. Tommy.
A graveside celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009, at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, with full military honors. Officiant will be Rev. Curtis Pixler. The family will receive friends at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, and other times at the home.
