Garland Vick

Garland Thomas Vick, 80, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie. He had been preceded in death by his parents, Richard Henry and Sybil Warf Vick, and by a brother, James Richard Vick.
A native of Hertford County, he was a caring husband, father and grandfather and was a treasured neighbor and friend. He was a retired farmer and member of Conway United Methodist Church who loved fishing, working in his garden, making peanut brittle and sharing all of these good things with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Eatmon Vick of their home; three daughters, Patsy Vick Smith and husband, David, of Rocky Mount, Kathy Vick of their home, and Tommie Anne Vick Hall and husband, Raymond, of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, David Thomas Smith of Rocky Mount and Reagan Hall of Fayetteville; one brother, Dudley Vick of Rich Square; and two sisters, Hazel Futrell of Rich Square and Dorothy Brinkley of Chesapeake, VA.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 6 in Conway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Hill and the Rev. James Hester presiding. Burial followed in the Town of Woodland Cemetery.
The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway, Sunday evening, July 5, and have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to Conway United Methodist Church, Conway Volunteer Fire Department or Conway- Severn Rescue Squad.
