Clifton Swain, 47, of Fayetteville died Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Lumberton.
A native of Bertie County, he was a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force. He worked for Mountaineer Farms in Roberson County.
Survivors include his wife, Detra Bridgers Swain of Fayetteville; a son, Clifton Jamal Swain of Fayetteville; a step-son, Ricky Lee II of Fort Jackson, SC; three step-daughters, Brittany Bridgers of Colorado, Sharina Bridgers of Georgia and Vanita Bridgers of Fayetteville; a brother, John R. Swain of Winton; four sisters, Jean Bell, Dorothy Conaway, Darlena Potter and Barbara Baylor, all of Windsor; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services, with US Air Force military honors, were held on Friday, June 26 at Cedar Landing Missionary Baptist Church, Windsor, with Pastor Shelton Barnes and Pastor Edward R. Conaway officiating. Burial took place in the Ryan Family Cemetery, Windsor.
