Aulander Youth League begins

AULANDER – Play has begun for this summer’s Aulander Youth League.

Recent results include:

MWB Repairs – 23, Ricky’s Corner Shop – 9

MWB Repairs scored 12 runs in the sixth inning and rolled to a 23-9 win over Ricky’s Corner Shop.

While the final score may not have shown it, the game was close throughout. MWB scored three runs in each of the first two innings to take a 6-1 lead, but Ricky’s fought back scoring three in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to close to within 11-9 before the 12-run sixth.

Caleb Hill picked up the win on the mound for MWB Repairs. He pitched four innings and struck out four. Chris Adams suffered the loss, but still had a six-strikeout performance.

Offensively, MWB was led by Matt Calderado who was 3-for-4 with five runs scored, Clay Barmer who was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Clint Conner who was 2-for-4 with one run scored.

Ricky’s Corner Shop was paced by Andrew Hall who was 1-for-2 along with Cody Matthews and James Forehand, each of who was 1-for-4.

W.E.B. Sand & Gravel – 8, ViQuest – 7

A seven-run second inning lifted W.E.B. Sand & Gravel to an 8-7 victory over ViQuest here Wednesday.

ViQuest led 3-0 after one inning, but W.E.B. rallied for seven run in the second and one in the third for the win.

Kaela White grabbed the win on the mound, pitching four innings and striking out seven. Lauren Coley took the loss and struck out six during the game.

W.E.B. was paced by Kelsey Farmer, Bailey Baugham and Kaela White, each of who was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Sierra Jernigan (3-for-3, two runs scored) led ViQuest. Brittany Parker and Theresa Stewart were each 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Liverman’s Metal – 13, M.W.B. Repairs – 3

Liverman’s Metal scored four times in the first inning and never looked back as they claimed a 13-3 win over M.W.B. Repairs Wednesday night.

Christian Bland led Liverman’s to the win, pitching two innings for the victory while striking out three.

Offensively, they were paced by perfect nights at the plate from Brian Bland and Tyler Hoggard, each of whom was 3-for-3. Alex Maxbauer also had three hits during the evening.

M.W.B was led by Clay Barmer (2-for-2), Chris Calderado (1-for-1) and Matt Calderado (1-for-2).

Liverman’s Metal – 17, Ricky’s Corner Shop – 12

An offensive showcase saw Liverman’s Metal score 11 times in the second inning enroute to a 17-12 win over Ricky’s Corner Ship Thursday.

Jordan Hyatt led the way for Liverman’s with a 3-for-3 performance while Christian Bland was 3-for-4 with four runs scored. Brian Bland checked in at 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Ricky’s was led by Andrew Hall, who was 1-for-1, and James Forehand who finished the night 2-for-3. Chris Adams was 1-for-4.

James Pridgen was the winning pitcher, going three innings and striking out six. Nick Adams suffered the loss but struck out four.
