Wayne Shingleton

Wayne Whittington Shingleton, 85, of US Hwy. 158, Roduco, died Friday, May 29, 2009 in his home.
A native of Greene County, he was a self-employed painting contractor.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Leigh Francisco Shingleton; four daughters, Janet Leigh Young of Mooresville, Jane Ambrose of Gatesville, Connie Mathes of South Mills and Bonnie Eason of Sunbury; three sons, Wayne W. Shingleton Jr. of Vinton, VA, Roger Shingleton of Gates and James Shingleton of Roanoke, VA; a brother, Benjamin Shingleton of Roanoke, VA; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 1 in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and was officiated by Curtis Mozelle. Burial with military honors followed in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie.
