John Curtis Staton, 63, of Sunbury died Friday, May 22, 2009 at his residence.
He was a native of Martin County.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Staton of Suffolk, VA; three daughters, Lisa Staton of Raleigh, Ruth Staton of Edenton and Annette S. Jernigan of Suffolk, VA; two sons, Joseph Staton of Suffolk, VA and John C. Staton Jr. of Sunbury; six brothers, Jimmy Staton of Williamston, Horace Staton of Robersonville, Ronald Staton, Ernest Brown and Charlie Brown, all of Portsmouth, VA, and Nelson Staton of Raleigh; three sisters, Joyce Higgs of Williamston, Cora Staton of Long Island, NY and Mary Mabrey of Portsmouth, VA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3 at St. Paul Baptist Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. Charlie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, are in charge of the arrangements.
