Velma Lewis Whitaker White, 74, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
A native of Bertie County, she was a member of Askewville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a standing member of the Prayer Group and the Senior Adults program. She was a retired member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Askewville Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include her husband, Aubrey Lee White of Askewville; her children, Jerry White and Tony White of Askewville and Terry White of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Crisp of Hampton, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30 at Askewville Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
