Franklin Cason

Franklin Cason, 72, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham.
A native of Anderson County, South Carolina, he received a Music Education degree from at Virginia State University. He furthered his education at North Carolina Central University, East Carolina University, Elizabeth City State University UNC-Greensboro.
He retired from Hertford County Schools as Band Director. He also served as Band Director for CS Brown School, Murfreesboro Middle School and Murfreesboro High School. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Survivors include three sons, Allen DeWayne Cason of Chesapeake, VA, Xavier LaMont Cason of Durham and Franklin D. Cason Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, James Cason of Forrestville, MD and Joseph Cason of Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 1 at First Baptist Church Winton by the Rev. Robert Ashe. Burial will be in the Gatling Family Cemetery.
Hunter’s Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling the arrangements.
