Vernon Lee Callis, 28, of Egypt Mountain Road, Kittrell, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at his home.
Callis was a native of Ahoskie.
Survivors include his mother, Pamela Overton Watson of Oxford; his father, Cecil Callis of Kittrell; his step-mother, Debbie Callis of Kittrell; his step-father, Tom Watson of Oxford; a sister, Kim Callis of Oxford; a brother, Lance Callis of Atlanta, GA; and three step-sisters, Elizabeth Bowman of Timberlake, Daphne Bowman of Henderson and Anna Painter of Wendell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church, Oxford, with the Rev. Tim Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service and at other times at the home of his father (433 Egypt Mountain Road, Kittrell) and at the home of his mother (4585 Fairport Road, Oxford).
