Melvin Ray Burden, 54, of Jack Branch Road died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A native of Bertie County, he was a Deacon, Superintendent, teacher and treasurer of Sunday School at Conoconary Missionary Baptist Church, Aulander.
He was employed as a foreman at Perdue Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Wilkins Burden of the home; a daughter, Melvise Burden of Windsor; brothers, Clarence Burden of New York and Albert Burden and Levy Burden, both of Aulander; and a sister, Nellie B. Ward.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 27 at Conoconary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William L. Davis Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Burden Family Cemetery, Aulander.
Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, handled the arrangements.
