Charles William Harrell, 83, of Morris Ford Road, Colerain, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Bertie Memorial Hospital, Windsor.
A native of Hertford County, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Harrellsville, and was a retired forklift driver at Ramsey Lumber Company. He served in the US Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Harrell of Colerain; sons, Charles William Harrell Jr. of Colerain and Jeffrey Johnkins of Chesapeake; daughters, Mary Ann Graham of Cofield, Carolyn Harrell of Gainsville, VA, Clara Lee of Ahoskie, Sharon Vertner of Laurel, MD, Patricia Holley of Colerain and Lenore Smallwood of Powellsville; sisters, Janice Freeman of Durham, Marie Harrell of Ahoskie and Beverly Ann Cherry of Colerain; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 22 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor Denise Hardy officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the church cemetery.
