Mary Hardy

Mary Holloman Boone Hardy, 89, of Garysburg died Sunday, May 3, 2009.
A native of Hertford County, she was educated through the public schools of Hertford County and her collegiate studies were obtained from Elizabeth City State University from which she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
She taught in the North Carolina Public School System for 34 years.
After relocating to Northampton County, she joined the Christian Fellowship of Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Senior Choir.
Survivors include her children, Earlie Arenza Boone of Roanoke Rapids, Melvin Reginald Boone of Garysburg and Lavonia Mae Boone of Garysburg; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her siblings: Essie Nora Holloman Newsome of Ahoskie, Lenora Holloman Richardson of Philadelphia, PA, Jesse Ray Holloman of Bristol, PA and Alice Louise Holloman Sessoms of Ahoskie; and step-children C. Odessa Jones, Floyd Hardy and Larry T. Hardy Jr.
Eulogistic services were held on Thursday, May 7 from the sanctuary of Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson, with the Pastor, Rev. Dr. Franklin D. Williams, Jr. delivering the eulogy.
Interment took place in the Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.
Cofield Mortuary of Weldon handled the arrangements.
