Sidney Chavis Jr., 69, of Murfreesboro died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at his residence.
He was a native of Hertford County.
Survivors include a son, Rickey Britt of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Evangeline Eley of Murfreesboro and Mary Tyler of Boston, MA; two brothers, Alton Lassiter of Baltimore, MD and Richard Lassiter of Portsmouth, VA; four sisters, Alice Carter, Jeanette Bullock and Catherine Lassiter, all of Murfreesboro, and Clarine Costen of Portsmouth, VA; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, May 4 at Hertford County Undertakers Chapel, Winton, with the Rev. Lloyd Gatling officiating. Burial will be in the New Haven Church cemetery.
