Activities, experiences rich in Roanoke-Chowan area

What a great week it’s been in the Roanoke-Chowan!

The weather is beautiful. The flowers and trees couldn’t be more gorgeous.

And there are so many good things happening around us that it isn’t even possible to begin to list them all.

If you didn’t take part in last weekend’s Relay for Life, you really missed something!

The event itself merits endless accolades.

And there could not have been a better setting for it. Squirrel Park on the Chowan University campus perfectly exemplified the above mentioned melding of perfect weather and the perfect season.

Earlier in the week, ACE Hardware in Ahoskie and Joe Murray Realty combined forces to put together, on behalf of the Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce, what surely was one of the most enjoyable chamber mixers ever staged not only in eastern North Carolina, but anywhere, anytime.

And before that, those same three entities, combined with the Small Business Center of Roanoke-Chowan Community College, put together a not-to-be-missed Administrative Professionals Day event that featured author and motivational speaker L. Diane Wolfe.

And finally, last night at 8 p.m., in Turner Auditorium on the Chowan University campus, many of us were fortunate enough to enjoy the annual Masterworks Concert consisting of the Mass No. 2 in G by Franz Schubert and the Fantasia for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, Op. 80 by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Truly, ours is an area rich in activities that run the gamut of life’s experiences and, just as truly, we all are rich in that, in the Roanoke-Chowan, we all can take advantage of anything that catches out fancy.
