Mrs. Margaret Peele Wood, age 94, died at the Guardian Care Nursing Home in Ahoskie, NC on Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Mrs. Wood was born in Bertie County to the late Blanche Jenkins Peele and the late Charles Thomas Peele. She was married to the late Ollie Isom Wood and to this marriage was born two children.
Mrs. Wood was devoted to her family. Being a homemaker she was able to provide for her family’s needs, as well she managed the C.T. Peele Store in Roxobel for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church in Roxobel, NC.
Also preceding her in death are her five sisters; Lucille Cockrell, Viola Peele, Hilda Mitchell, Frances Burden and Mae Brown; and her devoted son-in-law Steve Tayloe.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail W. Tayloe of Aulander, NC; and her son, Thomas R. Wood and his wife, Anne, of Palm City, FL; five grandchildren, Tommy Wood, Debbie McCullough, Ricky Tayloe, Dawn Hendrix and Mary Gaskins; and seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Abigail Wood, Valerie McCullough, Trey Tayloe, Hailey and Hannah Hendrix and Grace Gaskins.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery in Roxobel, NC with the Rev. Henry Boschen officiating.
The family will receive friends following the graveside services at the home of Gail Tayloe, 308 Commerce Street, Aulander, NC.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandy Run Baptist Church, 310 E. Church Street, Roxobel, NC 27872 or the charity of choice.
