Evelyn A. “Butch” Mason went to be with her loving Savior on Thursday, April 16, 2009. She was at home surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born March 26, 1923 in New York. She was a devoted mother and military wife, as well as a 20-year-plus volunteer at Sentara Leigh Hospital. She was also a member of Carrow Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marion I. Mason.
Her survivors include a brother, Ed Youngs of California; daughter, Rae Longest and her husband, Prentice, of Alvin, TX; son, Michael Mason of Norfolk, VA; and two grandchildren, Shelley Danels and her husband, Shea, of Sutherland, VA and Jennifer Madon and her husband, Randy, of Woodland, NC. She also left her loving memories with six great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Conner Danels, David Cox, McKenna, Seldon and Mason Madon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20 at Carrow Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, VA. Pastor Allen Hopkins officiated. Interment followed by Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
