Dorothy Mae Bell-McFarland, 83, of Quebec Road, Colerain, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at her residence.
A native of Bertie County, she was an Elder at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, and Senior Choir member. She was a retired Nurse Assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital in New York.
Survivors include an adopted daughter, Sandra McFarland-Mack of North Carolina; step-daughters, Betty Mitchell of Illinois and Kathy McFarland of Georgia; a foster daughter, Sharon Walker; brothers, William “Tommy” Jones of New York and Oliver Jones of North Carolina; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, with the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the McFarland Family Cemetery, Colerain.
