Charles William “Bill” Cooksey, 84, of Eure died Monday, April 13, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Jacksonville, FL, he was pastor of God’s Healing Cathedral, a multidenominational church. In earlier years he was owner of Cooksey’s Greenthumb Florist in Ahoskie. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Willoughby Cooksey; daughter, Pamela Shaffer of Arizona; a brother, Edgar L. Cooksey of St. Augustine, FL; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 17 at the Ashley Memorial Chapel at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Robert May officiating. Burial will follow at Israel New, Eure.
