Chamber hosts Spring Spectacular

WINDSOR – A variety of activities are planned for Saturday.

The Windsor-Bertie County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Cashie Spring Spectacular which will be highlighted by events at the park and chamber office on York Street.

The Cashie Car Show will begin at 8 a.m. Check-in and registration is from 8-10 a.m. at the Chamber office. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place in each category and for the Mayor’s Choice.

The categories include: Cars Pre-1930, Pre-1950, 1951-1970, 1971-1990, 1991-present, Mustangs; Trucks pre-1972, 1973-present; Street Rods and motorcycles.

The first 75 entries will receive a dash plaque and a trinket bag.

There will be a $20 registration fee until Saturday when the fee increases to $25. Participants with multiple entries pay $5 for each additional entry.

Also part of the event will be Paws in the Park, a fundraiser for the Bertie County Humane Society as well as the Farmer’s Market which will be from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will also be vendors and an expo.

All of those events will take place on York Street as well.

Livermon Zoo and Park will be open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. with a street dance slated for 6-9 p.m. at the park and zoo. There will be free admission for the event which will feature beach, country, rock-n-roll, rap, hip hop and more.

A fireworks display will be provided during the evening.

The event is drug and alcohol free and is family-friendly.

In conjunction with the Spring Spectacular, The Roanoke-Cashie River Center will present “Paddle Days” in partnership with the Roanoke River Partners.

Registration for the event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the River Center and will feature a paddle trip up and down the Cashie River. There will be three tours, one to Hoggard’s Mill, one to Johnson’s Mill and one to San Souci.

The trips will begin between 7:30-8:30 a.m. and will continue through 1-1:30 p.m. when lunch will be available.

Live entertainment is planned for the River Center beginning at 3 p.m.
