Horace McCoy Bryant Sr., 67, of Durham, formerly of Bertie County, died Monday, March 9, 2009 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Durham.
A native of Bertie County, he graduated from the Tuskegee Institute and served in US Marines as a sergeant from 1966 to 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Bryant of the home; children, Lisa McCoy, Horace Bryant Jr., Anjanette Wiggins, Natélége and Aisha; a sister, Ann James and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 13 at Bethel Family Worship Center, 515 Dowd Street, Durham. Burial, with military rites provided by the Marine Corps, will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at the Bryant Family Cemetery, 118 Bryant Lane, Aulander.
