Mary Maggie Bess, 75, of Thompson Drive, Lewiston, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at her residence.
A native of Bertie County, she was a member of Woodville Plains Baptist Church, Lewiston, and was a retired farm worker.
Survivors include her children, Anthony Bess, Archie Bess Jr., James A. Bess, Lord Bess, Willie David Bess, Jacqueline Pugh and Mary McFadden, all of Lewiston, Robert E. Bess of Gatesville, Roosevelt Bess of Washington, DC and Charity Tann of Ahoskie; a sister, Janet Moore of Potecasi; brothers, John Arthur Ruffin of Lewiston and James Williams of Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at New Bethlehem Church, Windsor, with the Rev. Robert Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Weeping Mary Baptist Church Cemetery, Lewiston.
