Joseph Malcolm Harden, 78, of White Oak Road, Windsor, died Monday February 16, 2009 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville. A native of Bertie County, he was a member of Askewville Baptist Church where he served as RA Director. Harden was a former purchasing agent with Lea Lumber Company and was the former owner of County Farmer Supply in Askewville. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, the Askewville Fire Department and served in the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Joan Bowen Harden of the home; a daughter, Edith H. Williford of Askewville; sons, Marty Harden of Mt. Gould, Barry Harden of Williamston and Richard Harden of Askewville; sisters, Joanne Hoggard and Linda Johnson, both of Windsor, a brother, Darvin Harden of Aulander; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Windsor. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
