Bernice Norris Woodard, 94, of Conway, passed away on February 17, 2009, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. She was born and raised in Fair Bluff, NC, to the parents of Vernon and Mattie Norris.
Upon her marriage to John Raynor Woodard Sr., she moved to and lived in Conway, NC, until 1999. She then moved to Raleigh to be closer to family.
She was a faithful member of the Conway Baptist Church, a life member of North Carolina Sir Walter Cabinet, a member of Pendleton Chapter 13 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Kirby Music and Literary Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2009, at Conway Baptist Church in Conway. Burial will follow in the Conway Cemetery.
Her surviving family includes: son, John R. Woodard Jr. and wife, Linda, of Germanton, NC; son, James A. Woodard, and wife, Phyllis, of Rolesville, NC; grandson, Andy Woodard and wife, Natalie, of Conway; granddaughter Tamara Woodard Norman and husband, Timothy, of New York, NY; and granddaughter Sarah Woodard David and husband, Eric, of Chapel Hill, NC; and five great grandchildren; Isabella, Leah and Benjamin Woodard, and Camille Norman and Jed David.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19 at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway.
