Mrs. Nancy Wood McDaniel, age 82, died at Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina on Monday, February 16, 2009.
Mrs. McDaniel is a native of Scotland Neck. She began her career at Carolina Telephone in Tarboro continuing at Ashford-Harrisons in Scotland Neck, and then she became a bank teller at the Bank of Halifax which later became BB&T in Scotland Neck where she remained until her retirement in 1995.
Mrs. McDaniel was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Scotland Neck. She was a Sunday school teacher, Vestryman, Choir member, and treasurer for Old Trinity Episcopal Cemetery and the Episcopal Churchwomen.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Mary Bryant Wood and E. C. Wood, and her husband, Harry Gunter McDaniel.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her two daughters, Martha McDaniel Parker and her husband, Alton, of Roxobel, NC and Rebecca McDaniel Brooker and her husband, Stewart, of Winterville, NC; and her five grandchildren, Ashley, Anna and Abby Parker of Roxobel, NC, and Elisha and Lydia Brooker of Winterville, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Old Trinity Episcopal Church in Scotland Neck, NC with the Rev. J. Gary Fulton, Rev. Ron Heister and Jane Heister officiating. The interment will follow at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Scotland Neck, NC.
The family will receive friends at Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck on Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m.
