Jimmie Simmons, 67, of Ahoskie died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, Va.
A native of Harrellsville, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
He served in the military as a member of the U.S. Army.
Simmons was a newspaper carrier for the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald and the Virginian Pilot.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, and son, Christopher, of Ahoskie; one sister, Dr.
Areatha Simmons Jones of Dallas, TX; a brother, Clarence Simmons of Ahoskie; and step-sons, Raymond and Bobby Dunning of Ahoskie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
